NANDO’S STORY
It all started in 1987 when two friends in Johannesburg came to experience the taste of PERi-PERi chicken. The African Bird’s eye chilli, or PERi-PERi as it was known, had grown out of Mozambique for centuries. The Portuguese inspired twist of adding a squeeze of lemon and a splash of garlic led to the creation of the PERi-PERi sauce. This African-Portuguese fusion blended with British culture led to the birth and success of the chicken restaurant now loved and known as Nando’s.
