Senior Brand Account Manager

All About …

My name is Katie, and I’m the Senior Brand Account Manager for Red’s True Barbecue. I love meat, and drinking beer, especially microbreweries and trying real ales! I recently attempted a monster barbecue at home having accidentally volunteered to cook for 16 people….thanks to my friends rallying round with equipment and advice, panic turned to culinary triumph –  especially when they all gave the Red’s Judas Ketchup a big thumbs up!

I graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in English and Communications, and have worked in food one way or another for 10 years now since I graduated. I’ve had a variety of roles, from serving customers in the underground bar at the Everyman Theatre to marketing licensed brands such as Nestle, Weight Watchers, launching confectionery for M&S, a spell in manufacturing making Poppadoms, and more recently National Account manager for Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s accounts. My CV is a real road map across business functions and I love that I have had access to valuable, rounded insight into how a company works end to end.

I did actually ask some friends at work, and was told I’m passionate, determined and creative, committed, a real team player, witty, and always grammatically correct – great to see the degree didn’t go to waste!

Proudest moments:

Persuading international colleagues and friends across Sydney, Thailand, Poland, UK, Brazil, Mexico and Canada to join together and cycle 9000km on a virtual “live webcam” cycle from the UK to Mexico, only to manage it there and back!

Believes in:

I’m very goal-driven, competitive, and I thrive when working as part of a team, especially where there is a real camaraderie and the process is fun! My strength comes from having a strong support network in and out of work, and there’s nothing better than a shared celebration.

Thankfully, to counter the effects of my indulgent eating and drinking, I’m pretty active too – I enjoy hiking, playing golf (fair weather player!) and have recently learned to ride a bike. Well technically, I bucked the trend and FORGOT. So I re-learned… I have a close knit family and a great circle of friends whose little ones are becoming the life and soul of the parties these days – but my favourite small person is my parents’ young whippet, a rescue called Dash who I regularly steal/borrow and pass off as my own!
