The welcoming of new Foodies is something we love to do at All About Food. As well as showing off our new friends to the world, we also love to give them the chance to chat about what’s important to them and how they’re finding working for All About Food. Sometimes chatting about the same thing over and over can get a little repetitive, and that’s not what you want. Especially in a blog. Which is why we’re going to introduce you to one of our newest members of staff, Lucy, 6 months on from her joining date with the company. And here’s a little bit about her:

Lucy started working for All About Food Ltd in October 2017. She arrived as the Office Administrator after Luke C decided to leave for to start up freelancing (see this blog entry for more information!) and leave our office team. As he did this, we knew we had to find someone to replace him who was going to fit into our culture and then some. Choosing Lucy for this role was a great decision. Within her first week she was helping out at one of our favourite events: our MUG club lunch for the community. She’s a keeper!

The first 6 months working anywhere are often a whirlwind, full of getting-to-know-yous and plenty of questions, so we wanted to get the inside scoop as to how she has found her first 6 months and what her favourite parts about working for All About Food are:

What do you like about AAF?

I love everything about AAF, I love the people I work with, I love the aspects of the job I do and I love the culture that AAF is about and lives up to. For example, the care they have for their staff and how much they value us, too.

What were your feelings about the company before you first started?

When I first started I was very nervous, I found it strange to have a relaxed office environment as I wasn’t used to this. I didn’t know too much about the company before starting so I was anxious incase I made a bad impression.

What do you think is unique about All About Food?

The values AAF have and the passion they put into everything that goes on. That could be from the day to day office jobs to the charity events we put on.

Which of our values do you like the most and why?

Family is my favourite value. This is because my family is the most important thing to me and when you spend a lot more time at work than you do at home it’s nice to be able to have a little work family that trusts and believes in everything you do and respects and supports you.

Hobbies and interests away from All About Food?

My hobbies are dog walking and horse riding. I have my own horse and puppy who are both like my little babies. I’d wrap them in cotton wool if I could!

What is your proudest ever achievement?

My proudest achievement would be organising a charity event and raising over £1000 for Ronald McDonald House Children’s charity.

In Lucy’s words, here’s a little bit more about her outside of work:

“I love spending time with my family as much as I can. I love going to see beautiful places for example I would love to go an sleep in a glass igloo underneath the Northern Lights in Finland! I love my animals; my dog, horse and tortoise are a big part of my life and keep my on my toes when at home! I’ve got a tad of an obsession with being tidy and whenever I’m at home you’ll usually find me tidying up something or other that really didn’t need tidying in the first place haha!”
